Taylor Swift talked about the psychological damage from her fight with her Kim Kardashian and Kanye West and blasted the music industry for its treatment of young pop stars in a new interview with Time, which named her “Person of the Year”.

After a year in the spotlight for her wildly profitable ‘Eras’ tour, the famous artist has had some harsh words about the music industry and record companies. “By the time an artist is mature enough to deal with the work psychologically, they throw you out at 29, usually“, she says.

“In the ’90s and ’00s, it seems like the music industry just said, ‘Okay, let’s take a bunch of teenagers, throw them in the fire and see what happens. By the time they’re old enough to do effectively their work, we will find new ones”.

She then confessed that when she realized that this is how the system works, her solution was to change her style with each new album. “I realized that every record company was trying to replace me. I thought instead of replacing myself with a new version of him first. It’s harder to hit a moving target”the pop artist emphasized.

She was particularly critical of Big Machine, the label with which she released her first six albums and which she accuses of keeping her on a ‘tight artistic leash’.Every creative choice I wanted to make was called into questionh”, he confessed.
Their partnership ended on a not-so-good note, with Swift objecting to the transfer of ownership of Big Machine’s albums to music manager Scooter Braun, with whom she had also clashed.

My pieces were being sold to someone who wanted them for nefarious reasons in my opinion“, he stated to “Time”. Taylor Swift’s feud with Scooter Braun dates back to when he was Kanye West’s manager.

How the feud with Kim Kardashian began

Kanye Westhad released a song, Famous, with the lyric: “I made that bitch famous”, referring to a previous dispute between them. Taylor Swift had reacted publicly at the time and had sharply criticized his particular verse, but she was faced with the “fire” of Kim Kardashian. Shortly after, Kim leaked a recording of their phone conversation, in which Taylor Swift appeared to approve of the song. It turned out that this particular conversation was not real and their feud dominated the press, while damaging Taylor Swift’s reputation.

They took away my career. There was a completely fabricated story, a whole set up, in an illegally recorded phone conversation, which Kim Kardashian edited and then released, to tell everyone I was a liar.

This threw me psychologically, in a place I had never been before. I moved to a foreign country. I didn’t leave a house I had rented for a year. I was afraid to make phone calls. I kicked most people out of my life because I didn’t trust anyone anymore“, said the singer.
