Eutychis and Elektra are returning to Greece after traveling abroad and on Saturday, December 16, they are making a trek dedicated to the fifth highest mountain in the country. Happy Traveler and our travelers have “stepped” on the peaks of Olympus, Smolika, Vorra (Kaimaktsalan) and Grammos. Now it’s time for them to go up to Giona!

Watch the trailer:

They go around the mountain passing through the historic Amfissa, which is also the capital of the prefecture of Fokida and was formerly known as Salona. They go “into the mountain”, into the mines of Fokida, and with the miners’ wagon they go 500 meters into the heart of Giona to learn all about the mining history of the mountain.

They see the artificial lake of Mornos which was created in the 1980s to meet the capital’s water supply needs. They arrive at Lidoriki, which went down in history as a stronghold of Roumeli fighters in the 1821 revolution.

They pass through the village of Sykia which is one of the villages with the most impressive location in all of Greece and finally they reach Kaloskopi where they spend the night. A village they will get to know very well, after visiting it 2 times – both in the winter with absolute calm, but also in the summer with an infinite number of people and a feast with clarinet and dances in the central square!

End, they set out to conquer another peak and after an adventurous hike with too much wind, they will set foot on the summit – a pyramid at an altitude of 2508 meters.
