The American duo Indigo Girls is the subject of a new documentary called ‘Indigo Girls: It’s Only Life After All’. After premiering at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival, the Alexandra Bobak-directed film will hit North American theaters in 2024.

The documentary focuses on Amy Rae and Emily Selyers of the Indigo Girls and how their unique brand of folk-rock became a generation’s anthem of self-acceptance. Featuring new interviews with Ray and Sailers, as well as old footage, the documentary promises “joy, humor and heart-warming excitement”.

Amy Rae and Emily Selyers have made their mark as musicians, songwriters and dedicated activists for civil rights and the rights of the LGBTQ community. They represented radical self-acceptance now leading generations of fans to say “the Indigo Girls saved my life”. But they battled misogyny, homophobia and a harsh cultural climate that punished them for not being the usual image of a female pop star, the documentary’s description says.
