Mrs. Sri Lanka lost her title after she accused the American beauty pageant Mrs. Universo of corruption, the organizers of the contest in the Asian country said on Wednesday (9). They attributed the model’s accusations to the fact that she did not win the competition in the United States.

The harsh accusations launched by Pushpika De Silva tarnished “Sri Lanka’s reputation in the world”, the local contest organizer explained in a statement, announcing that ‘Mrs. Sri Lanka’ lost his title because of this.

The “Mrs. Universe” contest, strictly reserved for married women, was won last month in Las Vegas by American Shaylyn Ford.

In a series of messages on social media, De Silva blamed the contest jury for being influenced by not declaring her ‘Mrs Universe’. She also accused members of her team in Las Vegas of hurting her chances to get that title.

Pushpika De Silva had already attracted media attention last April when, after winning the title of ‘Mrs. Sri Lanka ‘2021 in Colombo, Caroline Jurie, her predecessor, crowned in 2020, violently withdrew her crown, deeming that she did not deserve it.
