Pierce Brosnan, whose fictional film character James Bond has been in trouble many times, is now in trouble in real life, accused of going out of bounds in a thermal area during a recent visit to Yellowstone National Park.

Brosnan walked in a restricted area in Mammoth Terraces, in northern Yellowstone, near the Wyoming-Montana border, on Nov. 1, according to two federal subpoenas issued this week. Brosnan, 70, is scheduled to make a mandatory court appearance on Jan. 23 in the courtroom of the world’s oldest national park.

Yellowstone officials declined to comment. Brosnan was in the park for a personal visit and not for filming, the U.S. attorney’s office for Wyoming said.

According to the law visitors to the national parks must stay on the designated corridors and not trespass them. Going out of bounds is punishable by up to six months in jail and a fine of up to $5,000.

In addition to the four James Bond films, Brosnan starred in the TV series ‘Remington Steele’ and is known for his leading roles in the films ‘Mrs Doubtfire’ and ‘The Thomas Crown Affair’.
