After many years of patience, faith, dedication and hard work, Camilla Parker Bowles – the “third person” as Princess Diana had described her and “the permanent shadow in her marriage to Prince Charles – comes out” and will receive the title of royal wife when Charles ascended the throne, following a decision by Queen Elizabeth. Karolos described this decision as a “deep honor” for both himself and his beloved wife.
The decision marks the end of a long 22-year journey to Camilla’s acceptance by the British. To them he is the most hated person in all of Britain, “the snake”, as British tabloids and satirical TV shows called him.
Camilla Rosemary Sand was born on July 17, 1947. She was the daughter of a British Army officer and grew up in East Sussex. She loves ponies very much. She completed her education in England, Switzerland and France.
She met Charles in 1970 in a field hockey game at Windsor Great Royal Park. It was love at first sight. Among what Camilla said in the first discussion was that “my great-grandmother had a relationship with your great-grandfather (King Edward VII). “I feel we have something in common.” From that day on, Karolos began to besiege her with love letters and phone calls.
Eighteen months later they separate. The prince serves in the Navy for eight months and Camila is engaged. Scholars explain that Charles’s indecision played a role, as “he was not sure if he should marry her”. He knew his parents would never agree. The only relative who supported him was his uncle, Lord Mountbatten.
While serving, Charles learned that Camilla had married Andrew Parker Bowles, an Army cavalry officer. Their relationship started when she was 17 years old. The marriage took place on 4/7, 1973. They had two children, Tom with godfather Carlos and Laura.
The assassination of Lord Mountbatten by the IRA in August 1979 brought them back together. Camila hurried to comfort him, because she is the only one who talks to her about everything. They became a couple again, until 1981. On February 6, 1981, Prince Charles proposed to Diana with the blessings of Camila and even in the garden of her house. At their wedding Camila was there.
In 1989, at a party, Diana approached Camila and said, “I know what ‘s going on between you. I wanted you to know. ” She replies: “You have everything you could ever want. All the men of the world to be in love with you, two wonderful children. What else do you want;” Diana was satisfied with one phrase: “I want my husband”.
Karolos’ dilemma and fear of divorce pushed him into wrong moves. At first he feared that if he divorced and remarried, he could not become King. He confessed that he was bored with Diana, that he was jealous and that he needed Camila several times a week.
In 1994, Karolos gave permission to a television crew to create a documentary. Asked if he was faithful and honest in his marriage, he answered “yes, until it is irreparably damaged and after we had both tried”. He had described Camila as “a very good friend of mine, for many years. We will continue to be friends for many more years “.
In January 1995, Camila’s divorce was announced and in 1996, Charles’s divorce was finalized.
Shortly after Camila’s 50th birthday, Charles organized a party at his high-rise cottage (he had bought it because it was very close to Camilla’s house) to announce their relationship. But Diana is killed in Paris.
In 1998 Camilla meets William and Harry but not Elizabeth. In January 1999, Carlos made his first public appearance with her at Camilla’s sister’s birthday party at the Ritz in London. Following are their holidays in Greece. They have already completed 13 years together.
The Queen gives her consent to the party for the 60th birthday of the former King of Greece Constantine in Highgrove in 2000. Although she knew that Camila would be there, she agreed to go and so the people understood that she “bent”. Three years later, the couple moved to Clarence House, London.
On February 10, 2005, the 35th anniversary of their acquaintance, they announced their engagement with a 5 carat diamond ring.
They were married on 8/4 in a civil ceremony and Prince William as a best man. The Queen only went to the reception, making the following toast: “They overcame many terrible obstacles and I am very proud. I wish them well. “My son is at home with the woman he loves.”
In an interview given by Camila on 5/27/2017, shortly before she “turned 70”, she had spoken about her experience all these years: “It was terrible what happened. Very unpleasant moments that I would not wish even on my worst enemy. “I could not survive without the support of my family.”
Following the outbreak of the pandemic, the couple was isolated on the Balmoral estate.
Today Camila supports more than 90 charities and foundations as a patron or president. “She is loyal, discreet, works hard and supports the prince,” says royal writer Penny Junor. “She has taken on a relatively old age and she is excellent.”
Her other hobbies include reading, art, gardening, hunting and her two Jack Russell Terrier dogs named Beth and Bluebell.
She loves her grandchildren who missed her during the quarantine period and all she wanted was to “run to hug them”.
