Burnier says that physical exercise saved him from dying from a heart attack on Globo: ‘Heart had strength’

José Roberto Burnier, 63, spoke again about the heart attack he suffered last Friday (29), shortly after presenting SP2, the news program he runs on Globo. According to the journalist, he only survived due to the physical exercises he does periodically.

Burnier showed images of his x-ray and the status of his heart. “When doctors say we have to do physical exercise, they know what they’re saying,” said the presenter.

“I only escaped because I was conditioned. My heart had the strength to create the ‘shortcuts’ that saved me”, said the journalist, who received support from several followers and colleagues.

Burnier discovered he was having a heart attack after working at Globo last Friday (29). He drove to the Sírio Libanês hospital when he started to have some symptoms of malaise. Once there, he underwent surgery. He still doesn’t have a discharge forecast.

The presenter, who completed 40 years with Globo, had his first appearance in São Paulo precisely on the attraction he now commands, SPTV, in 1984.

The journalist has been married for more than 35 years to veterinarian Rúbia, with whom he has two daughters: Júlia, 32, an actress graduated from USP, and Olívia, 28, a graduate in administration from Faculdade Getúlio Vargas, an Amazon executive.

In his spare time, what Burnier likes to do most is ride a motorcycle. In an interview with F5 last year, he said he usually travels between 200 and 250 kilometers to relax on the weekends. According to the journalist, the routine on the road makes him disconnect from his problems and serves as therapy.

Another curiosity about Burnier is his love for his favorite team, Palmeiras. The passion is shared by his great friend and also journalist Carlos Tramontina. The two already had special seats at the team’s stadium.
