Two days after the Golden Globes (and Lanthimos’ triumph with Poor Things) Hollywood reconvened at the Dolby Ballroom in Los Angeles for the Governors Awards.

The Governors Awards are organized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and honor four veterans of cinema each year, including many who have not been honored with a regular Oscar.

Honorary Oscar to Mel Brooks for his entire work

At 97, the American director Mel Brooks (Mel Brooks,) was awarded an honorary Oscar for his entire career, more than half a century after he won his only Oscar for the movie “The producers” (The producers) in which he ridiculed Hitler.

An honorary Oscar was also received by Carol Littleton (Carol Littleton), n Angela Bassett (Angela Bassett) and Michelle Sutter (Michelle Satter), who posed with Mel Brooks excitedly holding their awards (center photo).

During the ceremony, Mel Brooks joked that he regrets the fate of his first Best Screenplay Oscar.

“I miss it a lot. I should never have sold it. I won’t sell this one. I swear to God,” he said.

Master of Hollywood comedy, Mel Brooks is one of the few people in cinema who have won the biggest awards of the American entertainment world.
