Luísa Mell defends Wanessa Camargo on BBB 24: it can kill mosquitoes

Luísa Mell used social media this Thursday (11) to defend Wanessa Camargo about the controversy of being vegan and having killed a mosquito on BBB 24. The singer was reprimanded by Yasmin Brunet after not resisting and using one of her hands to strike the insect on camera.

“No, vegan, vegan”, warned Luiza Brunet’s daughter and then Wanessa said: “But with the mosquito that’s biting me, I’m not vegan, no.”

“Does vegan kill insects or not? If you are in this country, somehow, you are following Big Brother Brasil 24 and you know that there is Wanessa Camargo. Our famous singer, beloved and now vegan and that [a exposição de Wanessa] has led veganism to discussions everywhere, including even people who have never heard of the topic”, began the activist.

Mell first explained what veganism is: “It is a philosophy of life that seeks, as far as possible and practicable, to exclude any type of cruelty and exploitation of animals in food or clothing,” he said. “Insects, in fact, cause a little more controversy. For example, mosquitoes. Yes, I confess that I also kill mosquitoes. As I told you, it is as far as possible”, he reinforced.

She stressed that a person should not risk their life because of an insect in order to prove that they are vegan: “If I’m in a house in the middle of the woods and there’s a spider, a dangerous arachnid, I don’t make a point of killing it. I try to catch it and return it to the vegetation, the forest.”

Luísa concludes that it is necessary to respect insects. “I think we also invade the animals’ place. If the animal is not putting me and my community at risk, I think it has every right to live. For example, bees, they are more important for life on Earth than we do. So we have to live in harmony”, he taught.
