The discovery of a rare syndrome terrified Isabel Teixeira, actress who played Maria Bruaca in “Pantanal” (2022) and the current Helena in “Elas por Elas”. The artist stated that she removed her breasts as a way to prevent possible cancer.

“I discovered, in 2020, through genetic mapping, that I had a syndrome called Li-Fraumeni [causada pela alteração no gene TP53, que predispõe o desenvolvimento de tipos de câncer]”, he said in an interview with the newspaper O Globo.

Isabel stated that her mother also had the syndrome, and died at the age of 56, a victim of more than one cancer. “My life changed a lot and for the better. When I received the news, I had a tremendous shock. Then I became stronger. I stopped smoking and drinking. My desire is to continue here, with breasts, without breasts, with or without silicone, but with joy .”

She said that as a teenager, growing up in a hippie home, she also experimented with marijuana and acid.

“My relationship with drugs was peaceful. I was always afraid of not returning. Drugs, especially marijuana, didn’t help, they took away my reasoning. When I smoked, I traveled, but I couldn’t express myself. Afterwards, I didn’t remember anything.”

Angelina Jolie also had her breasts and ovaries removed because she discovered she carried the BRCA1 gene, which increases the chances of developing cancer.
