Collectors are gearing up for the Phillips auction in London on January 17-18
Works by Andy Warhol depicting Queen Elizabeth II and Superman and works by Rashid Johnson, Ed Russa, Mel Bochner will be sold at an auction organized by Phillips in London on January 17-18
The works come from the archive of Jörg Schellmann (Archive of Edition Schellmann) who collaborated with the most important artists of the 20th century through Schellmann Art.

The ‘London Evening & Day Editions’ auction is selling 40 works, including Andy Warhol’s Tribute to Women of the Monarchy series and a tribute to Superman reflecting his childhood relationship with the superhero, as well as a portrait of Mick Jagger .
Lithographs by Marc Chagall, silkscreens by Hermann Nietzsche, creations that explore the power of words such as Mel Bochner’s ‘Amazing’, which is a colorful illustration of the work’s title and its synonyms accompanied by exclamation points, and figures of KAWS and Jeff Koons are hosted in the house’s gallery ahead of the auction.
“I just happened to paint words the way someone else paints flowers,” said Ed Russa, whose work is included in the Jörg Selman collection.
Proceeds from the auction will go to the ars publicata project, an online archive of contemporary art prints created by Jörg, Nanke and Pauline Selman.
