Pedro Bial accuses Meta of complicity in deepfake of baldness medicine

by

Pedro Bial, 65, is outraged by the unauthorized use of his image in an advertisement for anti-baldness medicine on the internet.

It is a deepfake, a simulacrum made by artificial intelligence that reproduces the presenter’s voice and face in a video, as if it had been recorded by him.

Bial posted a video on her social networks in which she states that she has already reported the advertisement several times to Instagram, but to no avail. He also says he is suing the company selling the fake medicine.

“I follow the slow steps of the legal processes while, on the internet, things only get worse, spreading”, laments Bial. “The fraud isn’t even that well done, but it’s enough to fool a lot of people”, says the presenter.

“Therefore, I accuse Meta, the company that owns Instagram and Facebook, of complicity in this crime of forgery, fraud and quackery”, says the journalist.

“For a crime to be carried out, it needs three factors: the motivation to commit it, the means and the opportunities to do so. If the motivation comes from the merchants of false medicine, the means and opportunities are offered by the Meta, which still profits , makes money with this scam”, continues Bial.

He also cites the example of Dráuzio Varella, who has already been the victim of several deepfakes of this type, selling fake medicines to treat baldness and even to lose weight.
