BBB 24: Wanessa Camargo and Yasmin Brunet’s teams speak out after accusations of racism

After BBB 24 viewers pointed out that Yasmin Brunet and Wanessa Camargo were being racist towards Davi, the teams responsible for the two participants’ social networks spoke out.

The accusations began in the early hours of Friday (26), after the sisters tried to convince other participants to expel Davi from the room.

In conversation with Wanessa, Yasmin confided that she considered David a liar, manipulative and violent. “I’m sleeping with the enemy,” said the Rio native. The pair then tried to convince their colleagues to take Davi out of the room, without success. The attitude sparked outrage on the internet.

Both teams defended the participants, saying that the clash between them and Davi was about “coexistence issues” and that internet users were defaming the sisters. Yasmin’s team also spoke about trivializing the anti-racist movement.

“Why have issues of coexistence within the game been taken to other places outside? ‘Big Brother’ is a game that takes participants out of their comfort zone, where everyone looks for reasons to vote for each other. Everyone knows of their triggers and all the pains are valid, both Davi’s and Wanessa’s. It’s not easy to be put in a spotlight and have your mistakes pointed out, but this cannot be a justification for delegitimizing or distorting Wanessa’s motivations”, he wrote the singer’s team.

“David’s behaviors inside the house were also pointed out by other participants in tones of attack against him. Wanessa was one of the only ones to try to understand Davi’s story. We need to pay attention to the ease with which a woman’s discomfort is reduced without considering the context of her life and what she has access to inside the house. The privilege of seeing the entire game belongs to the public and not the participants. Let’s not make villains of those who are only highlighting individual and collective perceptions”, asked the singer’s team.

Yasmin Brunet’s team also went online to defend the model and counterattacked, accusing those who accused Yasmin of racism of “defamation”: “Defamation is not entertainment”, says the text. “We understand that ‘BBB’, as a coexistence game, incites aversive behavior in competitors. However, it ceases to be a clean and healthy game when there is an attempt to transform conflicts arising from coexistence into narratives focused on social agendas”, says the text.

“Acting in bad faith, taking videos out of context and publishing them with the aim of creating a false narrative goes beyond the limits of the game and can lead to harsh consequences not only for Yasmin but for the movement itself, which is being trivialized. The agenda race is a serious matter”, the team continues.

The text also brings up the case of Vanessa Lopes to warn about mental health and the serious consequences that “hates” can bring to Yasmin. “Yasmin Brunet is not racist. Racism is a crime and must be fought — and not be confused with differences in coexistence”, concludes the text.

Zezé defends his daughter

In addition to her team, Wanessa Camargo was also defended by her father, Zezé di Camargo. “I would never let anyone down if I wasn’t sure of the person’s integrity. It’s not because she’s my daughter. I impartially analyzed all her statements inside the house,” the singer wrote on his social media.

“Wanessa’s problem with Davi is due to coexistence, in an extreme situation of gambling and stress, where every action generates a reaction. Accusations of racism and persecution are unfounded and anyone who really knows her knows and knows her heart, which in fact , he has shown understanding to Davi countless times”, he continued.

The countryman also says that Davi has been “declared champion” since day one. “They can even give him the prize, but it must be done honestly, without manipulation out here and foul play, and not at the expense of anyone’s head”, concluded Zezé.
