King Charles and Kate Middleton discharged on the same day after hospitalization

by

King Charles III, 75, and Princess Kate Middleton, 42, were discharged after being hospitalized for health problems. The monarch had been hospitalized since last week to undergo surgery on his prostate, which was enlarged.

It is unusual for the British royal family to disclose details of health matters. Charles, however, wanted to share the news with the public to encourage other men who have symptoms of the condition to see a doctor, according to the palace.

Kate, wife of the heir to the British throne, Prince William, underwent abdominal surgery for an unspecified but non-cancerous illness, according to the palace.

Kensington Palace said Kate is now back at her home on the Windsor estate, west of London.

“She is making good progress,” her office said. “The Prince and Princess would like to say a huge thank you to the entire team at the London Clinic, especially the dedicated nursing team, for the care they provided.”

Kate is not expected to return to public activities until after Easter. Prince William postponed his commitments to care for the couple’s three children, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5.

Charles’ public engagements were also postponed to allow for a short recovery period.
