Ed Sheeran is donating over €1 million to his former school in Suffolk to fund an Art course, as the artist’s passion for painting is well known.

In fact, Ed Sheeran donated £1 million to his former school so that his fans could follow their passion for Art.

The 32-year-old singer has openly shared his love of painting on social media and has now funded a new scholarship at Thomas Mills High School.

The grant was revealed in a report published by The Framlingham Foundation Trust, which the singer funds, and aims to provide pupils with new learning resources, as well as “a new expressive arts course introduced this year”.

The artist had already donated a similar amount to the school in 2022, to help students improve their musical skills.

Nikki Scholl, head of the school’s artistic direction, told the “Daily Star”: “At a time when music and the arts are recognized as so vital to the well-being of students… this school is very well placed to support the artistic development and well-being of students. Thank you”.

Ed Sheeran has also previously offered financial support for music, IT and photography studies at his old school.

He has previously showcased his artistic talents on social media, revealing in 2019 that he spent an entire month painting during a break from music.

Sharing snapshots of his impressive works on Instagram, he wrote: “I’ve spent a whole month since the tour ended painting, which I’ve never done before.

I had so much fun making it. If I’m honest, I felt a bit useless once the tour ended, because singing, writing and performing is all I’ve known, so it’s nice to find a new way to be creative. I would recommend everyone to get some paints and have a dip, it’s a lot of fun”. Ed’s work bore a striking resemblance to that of Jackson Pollock.
