The tour of the culinary treasures of Thessaloniki continues this Saturday, February 3, with Dimitris Skarmoutsos and “Neighborhoods on a plate” discovering the most magical corners of the “bride of the North”.

On the second morning in Thessaloniki, he finds Dimitris Skarmoutsos in the neighborhood of Fragomahala, perhaps the nicest neighborhood in Thessaloniki. Shops, old cafes, narrow passages, listed buildings, excellent tastes, basements and arcades are some of the elements that make up the current reality of this neighborhood.

In one of these arcades we also meet “Poster”, founder and chef Vassilis Hammam who, after years in London, returned to find his culinary home.

Next stop, the historic steakhouse “Diagonios” which counts decades of success. Here we will try the famous suzukakia, served with some bukovo and the tastiest gyro in town.

“Django Baroque Cafe” is a very warm and affordable shop, open all day and always ready to welcome students, locals, tourists or just passers-by.

“Trizoni” is the little brother of the multi-award winning “Trizoni” in Kriopigi, Halkidiki and comes with a rich family tradition in fresh fish and its management.

Dimitris Skarmoutsou’s return to the studio brings two more delicious recipes for barley with chicken, sun-dried tomato and mushrooms and crispy spring rolls with vegetables.

See you next week in another neighborhood!
