DJ Tiësto canceled his scheduled appearance on Super Bowl LVIII, due to a “family emergency.”

“My team and I have been preparing something really special for months, but a personal family emergency forces me to return home on Sunday morning,” Tiësto wrote on his social media accounts. “It was a difficult decision to miss the race, but family always comes first. Thanks to the NFL for the partnership and I look forward to working with them to create something great together in the future!”

Dutch EDM superstar and producer Tiësto would be the first DJ to play music during the Super Bowl.

According to Deadline, the top sporting event will feature Riba McIntyre singing the national anthem, Post Malone performing “America the Beautiful” and Andra Day singing “Lift Every Voice and Sing.”

Grammy-winning singer Usher will headline the Super Bowl halftime show, taking over from Rihanna.

A few hours later in a post on X, the American DJ Kaskade announced that he will take Tiësto’s place.
