Salo, 120 days in Sodom: Aris Biniaris directs Pasolini’s masterpiece on the Alternative Stage
The new show “Salo, 120 days in Sodom”, based on the iconic film of the same name by the great Italian director Pier Paolo Pasolini, a bleak masterpiece about the nature of fascism, comes through the subversive gaze of director Aris Biniaris at the Alternative Stage of the ELF, at the SNFCC. The performance is a commission from the Hellenic Greek Parliament and will be presented in a pan-Hellenic premiere from February 10 and for 22 performances. The plot of the film takes place in the Republic of Salo, a puppet state of Nazi Germany in Italy where, among other things, the fascists take over the education of nine girls and nine boys and, after taking them with the consent of their families, turn them into slaves and subject them to extreme physical and mental torture.

The soloists Renaud Capuçon and Guillaume Bellom at the Athens Concert Hall
German chamber music through the eyes of two French soloists. The famous French violinist Renaud Capuçon and his up-and-coming compatriot pianist Guillaume Bellom perform at the Athens Concert Hall, three of the most representative and popular works of the repertoire for violin and piano: the Sonatas no. 21 in E minor by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and no. 5 in F major (“of Spring”) by Ludwig van Beethoven as well as the Sonata for violin and piano in E flat major by Richard Strauss.

“I was and remained a researcher and a student”: A report on Yannis Tsarouhis
His first exhibition for 2024 will be launched on Saturday, February 10 by the Giannis Tsarouchis Foundation in Marousi, presenting representative, favorite works of the painter from different periods, some of which are not often presented. The works of the exhibition, which has as its title the Tsarouhis saying: “I was and remained a researcher and a student”, are divided into eight thematic sections (Landscapes, Houses, Uniforms and Costumes, Portraits, Religious, Mythological, People with wings, Dead Natures), which are developed separately on the two floors of the building on Plutarchou Street, in Maroussi. The exhibition is curated by Niki Grypari, president of the Yiannis Tsarouhis Foundation, while guided tours to the public during the exhibition will be held by artists and friends of the painter.
