Salvador’s Carnival recorded a scene for eternity in the early hours of this Sunday (11). Singers Ivete Sangalo, 51, and Baby do Brasil, 71, shared their visions about the end of times of Christianity among the revelers.
Baby began the dialogue, “everyone pay attention because we are entering the apocalypse. The rapture [segundo cristãos, é o movimento que será feito por Jesus para levar os escolhidos para o paraíso] Everything has to happen between five and ten years. Seek the Lord while you can find Him. Thanks, guys,” he said.
The artist paraphrased the biblical passage written in the book of Isaiah, chapter 55 verse six: “Seek the Lord, since He allows Himself to be found; call upon Him, since He is near.” According to Salvadorans on the web, this habit of Baby’s is repeated at carnivals and is a kind of trademark.
Ivete tried to intervene in the preaching saying that “there is no right apocalypse”. The singer’s phrase coincides with the end of the parables of the ten virgins narrated in chapter 25, verse 13, of the gospel according to Matthew: “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour.”
The Bahian singer hinted that her hit “Macetando”, made together with Ludmilla, was next on the list. But the carioca asked Ivete to sing “Pequena Eva”.
“I’m going to sing Macetando, because God is sending Macetando, right? It’s Jesus’ Macetando”, said Ivete. “Oh glory”, replied Baby.
The Bahian woman also concluded by saying that God is greater than all the commandments, and heard another glory from the Carioca woman. After the song started, Ivete sent kisses and said she loved Baby, who reciprocated and danced.
