Renowned artists, audiovisual stars and media figures were rare at the Copacabana Palace ball this year. Not that they are not celebrities, but influencers, especially those who post content about fashion and beauty, were the majority among the VIP guests on Carnival night in the hotel’s ballrooms and balcony.
There were also more tourists than usual. Many of them are influencers in their countries, and came to Rio at the invitation of sponsoring brands. Just one jewelry brand brought more than a dozen internet personalities from Latin America to enjoy the party and post wildly throughout the night. Louis Vuitton purchased a box in the Golden Room to accommodate its special clients.
This change in profile, a zeitgeist, has as its best example the queen of the ball herself, the —guess what—?, influencer Silvia Braz, 43, who was recognized by very few people there. The position is highly coveted and has already been occupied by Grazi Massafera, Marina Ruy Barbosa, Sabrina Sato, Luiza Brunet, Luana Piovani, Ísis Valverde and Deborah Secco, just to name the most recent. “I wasn’t surprised by the invitation [para ser rainha]. It shows the power of the internet,” said Braz, under the approving gaze of two of his three daughters, both teenagers.
The theme of the ball was “Extravangarde”, a fusion of the words “extravagant and avant-garde”, and there were many references under this umbrella, with decoration and some guests taking inspiration from better-known works of artistic movements, such as surrealism and expressionism. We bumped into people dressed up as Magritte’s “The Son of Man” (with the green apple on their face, remember?) and with Dalí’s melted clock (from the painting “The Persistence of Memory”) on their heads.
A resident of the hotel, Jorge Benjor appeared there, without fancy dress, that he is not that. “I’m in my little castle,” he said, when he was recognized by some fans on his way to the buffet, a gastronomic extravaganza, which had a statue of a giant giraffe on the table. She let out screams from time to time.
In red, “I love this color”, Luiza Brunet was once again asked about the participation of Yasmin, her daughter, in BBB 24. She said that she learned of the eliminated Nizam’s intention to apologize to her for a series of phrases said in the confinement over your body. “I think it’s cool that he wants to apologize because I think he really crossed the line a little bit,” she said.
“It’s naturalized male behavior. It’s not just him. He demonstrated there what society does and what we experience daily.” Luiza believes that her daughter will accept the apology. “She’s not a spiteful person at all.” On the balcony, Christiane Torloni was squeezing a cigarette and, when she saw that she was being photographed, she immediately lifted the tobacco box to show that it was not a joint.

Former Victoria’s Secret model and now singer (“without ever abandoning fashion”), Bárbara Fialho walked around the salons with her new boyfriend, lawyer and former basketball player João Paulo Campos. The two have been together for three months, in a little passion that is beautiful to see. Fialho was married to Rohan, Bob Marley’s son and gave the king of reggae, if he were alive, a granddaughter, Maria. The relationship with Rohan is good but he is jealous of João Paulo. ‘Also, a man like that… Who wouldn’t have one? “, he jokes, already amending with a kiss.
Adriane Galisteu did away with the long dress and costumes with feathers and sequins. He appeared at the Copa with an ultra-hugging swimsuit and his body covered in fake tattoos with the phrase “Be Love” (be love, in free translation).
If the clothes were simple, the same cannot be said about the jewelry. “What I have here, in terms of value, is enough to take Serasa’s name off,” joked the Record presenter, who because of her clothes couldn’t sit down (“she has tattoos on her butt”) or pee throughout the night . “I’ll do it standing up, girl! At times like these, we women know how to handle ourselves very well.”
