Cate Blanchett has been accused of ruining her neighbours’ holidays with noisy renovation work at her £5m eco-home in Cornwall.

The 54-year-old Australian actress and her husband Andrew Upton bought and demolished a former cottage in Mawgan Porth in 2020 to create their five-bedroom eco home.

The actress also bought another plot of land with plans to turn it into a road and parking lot for her country house. And the plans have sparked a fresh row with a Cornish cottage owner who accused her of being completely inconsiderate of her neighbors with the renovations.

Karen Burgess, who owns a neighboring cottage, claimed the noise from the works was ruining her guests’ holidays.

According to her official complaint, she claimed she lost £60,000 in rental income due to the construction, she told Cornwall Live.

“I am deeply concerned that there has already been a complete disregard for the noise which has ruined the family holidays of all my guests throughout 2023.”

However, a spokesman for Watershedd – the architecture firm behind Cate’s construction – denied her claims and said the noise was coming from other nearby projects.
