Ukrainian forces they have push back Russian troops from the village of Orlivka, west of Avdiivka, but the situation on the eastern front remains difficult, the head of the Ukrainian armed forces said today Alexander Shirsky.

Orlivka is located less than 2 kilometers northwest of Lastoskin, recently occupied by Russian forces.

Last week, Russian forces captured the strategic town of Avdiyivka in eastern Ukraine after a months-long offensive, and are putting pressure on several other areas along the front line, according to Ukrainian authorities.

The Ukrainian military announced this week how he withdrew from two other villages near Abdiivka, losing more territory as support from his western allies is lacking.

“The enemy continues offensive actions in many areas of the front line. The situation is particularly tense in the regions of Abdiivka and Zaporizhia,” Sirsky wrote on the Telegram platform.

He himself stated that Russian units attack trying to break the Ukrainian defense and occupy the settlements of Tonenke, Orlivka, Semenivka, Berdici and Krasnohorivka.

Sirski, who visited troops on the eastern front, said deficiencies were found in some areas affecting their defense.

“I took all measures to correct the situation on the ground, by providing additional ammunition and material resources, as well as the necessary reserves,” Sirsky said.

Ukraine’s armed forces and President Volodymyr Zelensky have repeatedly said troops are facing shortages of military equipment and ammunition needed to repel Russian attacks because of a lack of military aid from Western allies.
