The “green film” production workshop welcomes the Hellenic Film Center in Athens
The new perspective of film production in climate crisis conditions, the optimal application of green protocols, certification procedures, the design of a sustainable production plan for a film or television series through specific submitted plans that plan shooting in the near future, are some of the topics which will be developed during the workshop Green Film Lab from the 6 to 8 March 2024.
This workshop is hosted in Athens by the Hellenic Film Center (EKK), through its Directorate for International Audiovisual Productions – Hellenic Film Commission (HFC).
It is organized by the Torino Film Lab, which has extensive experience in developing innovative actions and programs, in collaboration with the European Green Film network.
They participate in it 32 in total professionals of which 16 are from Greece and the rest from Germany, Estonia, Serbia, the Czech Republic and Portugal. Instructors include Giovanni Pompili (head of training programs at Torino Film Lab), Louise Marie Smith (founder and CEO of UK organization Neptune Sunstainability), Lucie Tremolieres (French writer and director), Dorte Schneider Garcia (assistant director and sustainability consultant based in Portugal).
An Open Session is part of the Green Film Lab, at Impact Hub Athenson Thursday March 7, in which participation was secured 30 additional Greek professionals. Part of his work is the presentation of the green protocols and evaluation systems of film and audio-visual producers, but also the analysis of the role of the sustainability manager.
“The strategic collaboration of the Greek Greek Cypriot Council and the HFC with the Torino Film Lab brings to our country for the first time this important action, which is addressed to producers, sustainability managers, and film commissions in order to prepare their smooth and timely transition to an environment green economy. The Greek Film Festival, with responsibility for the future of Greek cinematography and the audiovisual sector of our country, welcomes the Green Film Lab, convinced that Greece’s position on the European film map is strengthened by the adoption and certification of environmental practices in the planning and implementation of film producers.
YKK, active in our country’s effort to harmonize with international policies and practices aimed at reducing the carbon footprint, has already joined, through HFC, the Green Film network in which European film commissions and film funds participate. The enrichment of many European financial instruments with systems of additional support for co-productions that adopt green practices, makes it necessary for HFC to collaborate with networks such as Green Film in order to exchange information and know-how, but also to promote green filmmaking practices” notes in a statement the EKK
