Olympiacos: Kanaan historical record in steals-Bartzokas is eighth in wins

The six thefts made by Isaiah Canaan in yesterday’s Olympiakos victory over Peristeri bwin constitute historical performance. The American shooting guard equaled the top performance of the “red and white” in the years of the professional championship (from 1992/93 onwards).

Kanaan became the seventh player in Olympiakos Stoiximan Basket League history to make six steals in a game after:

*THE Thymios Bakatsias in the home game of the 1994-95 season with the Gymnastic Association of Larissa.

*THE David Rivers in the 3rd final of the 1997 playoffs with AEK Betsson.

*THE Milan Tomic in the away game against Apollon Patras for the 1997-98 season.

*THE Thodoris Papaloukas in the 3rd final of the 2010 playoffs with Panathinaikos AKTOR.

*THE Dimitris Katsivelis in the home game against Colossos H Hotels for the 2010-11 season.

*THE DJ Strawberry in the home game against Kifisia for the 2015-16 season.

Isaiah Kanaan also made six steals, equaling the second highest performance in this year’s Stoiximan Basket League after Alexandros Nikolaidis did the same in Amarousi’s away game against Apollon Carna. But the record is shared by Luka Vildosa and Ronnie Harrell with seven.

The American guard managed something else yesterday that has its value on a statistical level. Having made 3/7 three-pointers, he became the 8th foreigner in the history of Olympiakos to reach 80+ accurate shots in the years of the professional championship. Reaching 82 accurate three-pointers in the Stoiximan Basket League, Kanaan “climbed” to the 6th place on the “red and white” list. Through the match in Peristeri he surpassed Eddie Johnson (1994-95) and Martinas Getsevicius (2011-13) who each had 80.

Besides, yesterday the George Bartzokas became the eighth multi-winning coach from the first national team after reaching 226 victories and surpassing Dragan Sakota. He even managed to do so by having 46 games less than “Sale” (327 versus 373).
