The celebration of Peach blossoms starts on Sunday, March 9, at Veriabeing an ideal occasion for an escape to the already enchanting city.
Eight billion flowers that bloom every year on 17,000 acres of peach trees, paint pink the vast fertile plain of Imathia, offering magical images and unique experiences to the lucky ones who will be in the area during this period.
The celebration of flowering, from this year, started from the market of Veria, where since the beginning of the month, artists have been painting blossoming peach trees on the shop windows announcing the start of the Spring Festival “Blooming Peach Trees of Veria 2024”.
In fact, during the Peach Blossom 2024 events, the cafés and bars of the city participate by offering a plus one rosé wine to their customers and cocktails inspired by the pink blossoms at special prices.
Cycling up to 33 km for the adventurous, hiking and …the Peach Blossom Trees
Based on the program of events announced today by TOB, on Sunday, March 17, from 10 am and for the next four hours, there will be a cycling and walking tour in the blossoming peach trees.
The established annual excursions to the pink plain on foot or by bike will take place, as every year, starting from the Elia park, from where all visitors will descend together to our blooming plain. Along the hiking route musicians accompany the walkers. Young and old can take part in the hike and the distance of the route is six kilometers.
Children aged 13 and over can take part in the bike ride accompanied by a guardian, with the distance of the route at 17km and the necessary equipment and helmet.
On Sunday 24/3, hours 10:00 – 13:00, a mountain bike ride will take place for the first time this year, with a view of the blossoming peach trees.
Hot air balloons over the flowery plain
On 9/3, a variety of actions will take place on the sidewalks of the market in the center of Veria, all of which will have one and only basic goal and purpose – “to create a festive atmosphere that will lead to the greatest celebration of nature, the first of Spring, the whole world, even those who hardly escape from their everyday life” as Ms. Pilitsidou mentions.
On Monday, March 18, the day of Holy Monday, the daily photo contest “High in the Blooms!” will take place from sunrise. Peach Trees & Hot Air Ballons Photo Contest”, with hot air balloons flying over the fertile plain of Imathia during the hours 06:30 – 12:00 – 14:00.
In particular, two spectacular hot air balloons will rise at sunrise and for two hours from the pink flowered plain of Veria and at 12 noon a huge flying red heart will fly above the pink flowers to meet the light of the midday sun. “Early in the afternoon, a hot air balloon flies captive near the artificial lake of Aliakmonas, to give wonderful images and photo shots to those who take part in the action” emphasizes the president of TOB and invites photography lovers to take their cameras and finding the right one location on the plain or in the highest points of the city, to claim wonderful gifts.
Flying piano in blossoming peach trees
At the same time, the flying pianist Eleni Xydia and the director Paschalis Mantis, awarded for their projects with more than 25 international awards, are coming to the blooming plain of Veria for their next project.
In the blossoming plain they will create a video that will combine Eleni’s music with the incomparable beauty of the area.
