Dakota Johnson says her mother, Melanie Griffith, was ‘maybe too open about sex’ and offered her contraceptives

Dakota Johnson, 34, said she grew up in a family environment that was very open when it came to sexuality. The “Madame Teia” and “Fifty Shades of Grey” star said her mother, actress Melanie Griffit, 66, was perhaps too open about the subject.

In an interview with Bustle, Dakota said she feels lucky to have had her mother’s support in discovering herself sexually. “It’s always been like, ‘Whatever your preference and whenever you want to have sex, just let me know and we’ll provide contraceptives,'” she said.

“It was really healthy and made me feel like I had permission to discover my sexuality on my own, which I think is such a special gift,” she said.

Dakota has been dating Chris Martin, lead singer of Coldplay, since 2017. This Thursday (7), The Mirror reported that the singer had proposed to the actress a few days ago. The couple has not yet confirmed the change in their relationship status. The newspaper also says that Gwyneth Paltrow, Chris’ ex-wife, gave her blessing.

I’ve never done anything like it before. I’ll probably never do something like that again because I don’t make sense in this world. And I know that now,” she said.
