Andréia Horta made her debut as a presenter on TNT at the 2024 Oscars and the actress was moved when she heard Da’Vine Joy Randolph’s speech when she won the award for Best Supporting Actress for the film “The Rejected”. She plays lunch lady Mary Lamb, a woman who loses a son in the war and goes through the stages of grief in the production directed by Alexander Payne.
“I always wanted to be different, and now I realize that I just had to be myself. And I thank you for seeing me. God is so good. I didn’t think I was supposed to pursue this career [de atriz]. I started as a singer, and my mother said to me, ‘Go across the street to that theater. There’s something for you there,'” said Da’Vine.
“We are born into a world that, around us, seems like we will never have a chance. It was my vote, stunning, I’m very, very happy for her”, said Andréia. Presenter Ana Furtado reinforced: “I was also quite emotional.”
Andréia showed that he was prepared for the attraction. He said he had watched all the films nominated in the main categories. Last year, Camila Morgado criticized the lack of female representation at the 2023 Oscars and said she didn’t really like the awards and, in particular, the Best Film statuette for “Everything in Every Place at the Same Time”.
The second item of the night, best animated short, was not shown to the Brazilian public — who only discovered that the Oscar had been won by War Is Over!, based on the work of John Lennon (1940-1980) and Yoko Ono. Ana Furtado then explained that the team in Brazil had synchronization problems with the original transmission at the beginning. Other moments of the party, such as the presentation of some best film nominees, were also not seen in Brazil.
