Influencer Bruno Ayub, better known as Monark, used social media to speak out against the decision of the São Paulo Public Ministry (MPSP) regarding compensation worth R$4 million. The organization filed a public civil action against him for statements in defense of the creation of the Nazi party, during an edition of the Flow Podcast, in February 2022.
Monark stated that he feels persecuted by a “dictatorship” and announced that he is looking for a free lawyer to defend him in the case. “I’m tired of spending hundreds of thousands of reais fighting the dictatorship that persecutes me because I have an opinion”, he began, highlighting that he was “pro bono” [quando os advogados oferecem seus serviços jurídicos de forma voluntária e gratuita para pessoas ou organizações que não têm condições financeiras de arcar com os custos legais].
“It’s an opportunity to make a name for your office by defending a just cause”, concluded the former podcaster. O F5 contacted Monark but received no response.
Ayub defended the creation of a Nazi party in Brazil during an interview with federal deputies Kim Kataguiri (DEM) and Tabata Amaral (PSB) on Flow Podcast. The excerpt in which he advocates Nazism became one of the most talked about topics on Twitter
With the negative repercussion of the episode, Monark published a video apologizing shortly after and claimed that he was drunk during the podcast. The program’s sponsors canceled their contracts with Estúdios Flow, which announced the dismissal of the influencer, who revealed that he supported the coup demonstrations in Brasília in January last year.
According to the MPSP, the amount of compensation will be allocated to the Secretariat of Justice and the Defense of Citizenship of São Paulo through the State Fund for the Defense of Diffuse Interests.
