At 44 years old and mother of Freddie, 9, and Cleopatra, 2, actress Christina Ricci opened up about the arduous moments of motherhood in an interview with Shannen Doherty’s podcast this Wednesday (27).
The actress, who stars in the series “Yellowjackets” (Paramount+), revealed that her ex-husband, James Heerdegen, was not a partner when her son Freddie was a baby.
“My husband at the time didn’t help me at all,” said the actress. “I had to do all the night work with the baby, wake up early and work 14 hours in front of the cameras.”
Ricci became known for playing Wandinha in the first feature film of “The Addams Family”, in 1991.
“I basically did everything myself, so it was tough, but I managed to get through it,” said the actress. “I just kept going and told myself, ‘It’s going to be temporary.'”
Currently married to hairdresser Mark Hampton, Ricci says that the postpartum period of her second daughter, Cleopatra, was different, as she was filming “Yellowjackets” in Canada.
“Last year, I lived on the air bridge, so sometimes she didn’t even recognize me. It was really painful,” he said. “My children don’t like it when I travel. I try to take them with me as much as possible,” she said.
