Lionsgate and Amazon MGM Studios have announced that the sequel to the 2018 hit mystery comedy ‘A Simple Favor’ is coming.

In the new production, the protagonists Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively return, under the direction of Paul Feig.

It is noted that “A Simple Favor” which was based on Darcey Bell’s novel of the same title, followed the lives of two girlfriends, the young and widowed mother Stephanie (Kedrick) and the stunning Emily (Lively) who started hanging out because of their children.

The film grossed $97 million at the worldwide box office and was a major commercial success for Lionsgate.

The second film will follow the two friends to the beautiful island of Capri for Emily’s (Lively) lavish wedding to an Italian businessman. However, among the glamorous guests, a murder and a betrayal will be involved.

Jessica Sharzer takes over the script again with Leta Kalogridis and the director.

The two female leads are joined by Henry Golding, Andrew Rannells, Ian Ho and Kelly McCormack, among others.

According to Variety, filming will begin immediately and the film will be available for streaming on Prime Video.
