A radio, historical documentary of SKAI 100.3
The series of SKAI 100.3 radio historical broadcasts presented by Aris Portosalte is dedicated to the revolutions that defined the 19th century. Starting with the American Declaration of Independence and the American Constitution, it proceeds to the French Revolution and ends with the Greek revolution.
At the same time, the industrial revolution in England brought changes in production, economy and society. Finally, he analyzes life in the Europe of ideas and wars, the end of empires and the birth of nation states.
In the broadcast of Sunday, March 24, Aris Portosalete and Mr. Paschalis Kitromelidis analyzed an introductory chapter so that we can better understand the events of the 19th century. In this chapter they started from the Enlightenment period and political ideas, making a historical journey from the Italian Niccolò Machiavelli to the English philosopher Thomas Hobbes, who is considered one of the first thinkers-founders of the modern state and the founder of political philosophy. While then a special reference is made to the Englishman John Locke who is one of the most important English thinkers of the Enlightenment and founder of political liberalism.
