The “ticket” will cost 5 euros and can be purchased online
The pilot phase of its implementation “entrance ticket” for day visitors to Venice will begin on April 25.
As stated by the mayor of Galinotati, Luigi Boruniaro, in an interview with the Foreign Press Association of Rome, this pilot phase it will last a total of 29 daysuntil the end of July.
The “ticket” will cost 5 euros and it will be possible to buy it online, securing a QR code, which will be displayed at any controls.
They are excluded from payment by permanent residents, students and those visiting Venice for health or work reasons.
But everyone, in case they are not going to spend the night in the city, will have to register on the cda ve.it website to be able to enter its historic center during this experimental phase without the risk of being fined.
Boruniaro added that in this way the municipal authority will be able to foresee extraordinary flows of touristsfor similar service to local and foreign citizens.
“All the inhabitants of the planet want to come to our city, we open our doors to them, but we want to avoid the excessive pressure of visitors in a unique architectural reality like ours”, emphasized the mayor of Venice.
He finally emphasized that it is not a closed number because there is no upper limit of visitors, that the payment of the “ticket” will only be mandatory until 4 pm and that many other cities – in Europe and beyond – have expressed interest in this specific subway.
