BBB 24: Davi confirms favoritism and is champion of the season

Davi is BBB 24 champion with 60.52% of the votes. Tadeu Schmidt announced the public’s decision in the early hours of this Wednesday (17). At 21 years old, the Bahian who worked as an app driver won the dispute for the R$2.92 million prize and became the youngest man to win the Globo reality show.

Davi is also the first dark black man to win a season and the first male participant to win an edition in the camarote era, which began in 2020.

The brother surpassed Isabelle and Matteus in the grand finale of the season. The result had been speculated on the web for weeks, but it wasn’t always like that. The bets considered Davi as a kind of underdog participant.

The brother’s favoritism emerged when the show’s audience noticed that the other cast members were persecuting him. He was threatened, humiliated, cursed and attacked during his participation.

Part of the public even understood that David was discriminated against because of his race.

At the most drastic moment, in February, Davi almost pressed the BBB withdrawal button. It took production intervention to prevent the young man from giving up. The subject gained momentum and made the term structural racism break search records in Brazil in March.

Weeks later, the Bahian faced aggression from Wanessa Camargo, saw his clothes thrown into the pool by Leidy Elin and fought against the celebrities in the edition.

“Calm down, Calabreso” was a catchphrase used by Davi to defend himself against intimidation from MC Binn and Lucas Buda. The term, created by Toninho Tornado, went viral on the networks and reached Spain. Real Madrid’s official profile made reference to the episode during a victory celebration.

The phrase became a hit at Salvador’s carnival. The champion got a scholarship to study medicine, his dream since childhood. He also expressed his desire to become president of Brazil.
