Tattoo in honor of Motörhead and iconic musician Lemmy Kilmister who “passed away” at the age of 70 in 2015 became their frontman Metallica, James Hetfield.

As the snap shared on the band’s official Instagram account shows, he inked the walking stick symbol inside an iron cross on his middle finger, and the ink used contained some of the late musician’s ashes.

“With the steady hand of my friend and tattoo artist Corey Miller I got this tattoo. A tribute to my friend and inspiration, Lemmy Kilmister. Without him, Metallica wouldn’t exist.”, the singer wrote in the caption. “Black ink mixed with some of his ashes so graciously bestowed upon me. So now he can still raise his middle finger to the world.” completed.

As Rock Cellar reports, six years after Lemmy Kilmister’s death from cancer, his close friends shared some of his ashes, which were placed inside small silver globes.
