Clothing, footwear and jewelry from the personal wardrobe of the late legendary fashion designer Vivienne Westwood being auctioned off to raise money for good causes he supported.

More than 200 items of clothing and accessories, including elaborate silk knitwear evening gowns and accessories will be sold by Christie’s.

Among them are dresses from one of her first collections, “Witches”, presented Fall/Winter 1983-84 and was inspired by artist Keith Haring’s use of magical symbols. Designs from Propaganda’s Fall/Winter 2005-06 collection are also available.

“Vivienne Westwood’s sense of activism, artistry and style is embedded in every garment she creates. The collection exhibition and auction will honor her extraordinary vision with a selection of ensembles that represent significant moments.” said Adrian Hume Sayer, director of private and iconic collections at Christie’s.

The auction will be held in two parts online on June 14-28 and live on June 25.

Among other things, her work will be sold “THE BIG PICTURE – Vivienne’s Playing Cards: Collect the cards. Connect the cards”.

In 2017, the fashion designer created a deck of playing cards as “A Strategy 2 Save the World” — a plan to save the planet, imbued with her cry, “Collect the cards. Link the cards,” the auction house says. The prints shed light on pressing issues facing humanity, such as climate change, social inequality and human rights – concerns that remained at the forefront of her mind. Shortly before she died, she selected ten of her strongest graphics for enlargement and began signing the precious large-scale “cards” on which these designs would be printed posthumously.

The proceeds from the auction will support the actions of the organizations Amnesty International, Doctors Without Borders, Greenpeace and The Vivienne Foundation.
