Chris Pine recalls the “sense of dread” he felt at the launch of his first major film.

On the occasion of the premiere of his latest production titled Poolman spoke to ET about his starring role as Nicholas Devereaux in the “The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement” almost 20 years after its release.

“I remember we premiered at Disneyland. I got picked up in a limo with my agent and I was so nervous.”pointed out Pine, who starred alongside Anne Hathaway.

“I mean, I remember…being absolutely terrified. It was all that experience and the people shouting… you have to adapt to that whole setting.” he added.

It is noted that some time ago the news that “Princess Diaries 3” is in the works was released.

However, in his new film, which also marks his directorial debut, he plays Darren Barrenman “a Los Angeles dreamer who spends his days tending the pool at the Tahitian Tiki apartment building until he gets embroiled in a conspiracy.”

It stars Annette Bening, Danny DeVito, Ariana DeBose and Ray Wise.

“We wrote it during the pandemic, so there was a lot of material about loneliness. I know what it’s like to feel alone – beyond COVID – and that feeling of being uncomfortable in your own skin, looking for love and not really knowing how to find it.”
