The 28-year-old singer caught up with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1 as she prepares to release her third album, “Radical Optimism”.
“I’m finally at a point in my career where I feel really confident. It took me a long time to get to this point. It’s the first time I talk about anything, the album title, the record, the songs.”
In fact, she admitted that songwriting is a form of therapy for her: “Writing these songs, it’s a form of therapy for me. You feel vulnerable when you write your thoughts into a melody and then other people consume them.”

The artist mentioned that she knew from the beginning what the title of her album would be. As for how she’s dealt with criticism and mean comments since her rise to fame, Dua Lipa noted: “There can be a moment when people really love you and you’re like, oh, that’s great. Especially at the beginning. I was doing interviews and people would ask, “How do you deal with hate?” And I was like, “I don’t take no hate at all. They’re great.” Then that changed very quickly and I remember even when it was nominated for Best New Artist at the Grammys and I won it, there were people online saying it didn’t deserve it. However, I try not to use criticism as revenge.”
