Pedro Scooby and a group of giant wave surfers arrived in Rio Grande do Sul this Monday (6) to help rescue victims of the rains that are ravaging the state with jet-skis and equipment used in extreme sports. The athletes left Rio de Janeiro last Sunday (5) and arrived in the city of Xangri-Lá more than 20 hours later.
Surfers Iankel Noronha, Lucas Chumbo (Chumbinho), Michelle Bouillons and MMA fighter and jet ski pilot Reyzinho Duarte are also in the delegation. The athletes are experienced in commanding jet-skis and decided to use their equipment to help with rescues.
The group was filmed while receiving navigation instructions from a location in Xangri-Lá, a city flooded as a result of heavy rain. “There’s a school with two hundred children up there, it’s a little far away,” he says. They were also filmed purchasing food and cleaning supplies.
