“Turkey is trying to increase its friends and there is no problem it cannot solve with the countries of the region,” said Recep Tayyip Erdogan after the Cabinet meeting in Ankara.

He referred to the visits of the sheikh of Kuwait and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to Turkey in the following days, to conclude that “like the two-headed eagle of the Setlzouks, we will develop our relations with both the East and the West.”

The Turkish president’s statement in detail:

“We are trying to increase our friends. We have no problem that we cannot solve with the countries in our region. We believe that there is no door that dialogue and negotiations cannot open. It is enough to approach with good intentions and give diplomacy a chance. The sequel will surely come with a little effort and a little sacrifice. Tomorrow we will host in our country my brother the Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah. Next week, on Monday, the Prime Minister of Greece Mr. Mitsotakis will come to Ankara as part of an official visit. Like the double-headed eagle of the Seljuks, we will seek a way to develop our relations with both the East and the West on the basis of our common interests.”
