Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh, will star in the new Amazon Prime miniseries “Blade Runner 2099” produced by the director of the original 1982 “Blade Runner” film, Ridley Scott.

While no details about the star’s role or the plot have been revealed at this time, the title suggests that the series will take place 50 years after Scott’s sequel Blade Runner 2049, which was directed by Denis Villeneuve. and premiered in 2017.

It is noted that the famous science fiction franchise is based on Philip K. Dick’s iconic novel, “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?”, published in 1968.

The new production from Alcon Entertainment and Scott Free Productions recently began filming in Prague after a delay of almost a year due to last year’s double strike in Hollywood.

According to “Deadline,” Silka Louisa will serve as showrunner and executive producer of the series. Jonathan Van Tuleken will direct and executive produce alongside Steven Johnson the first two episodes. Film United is the production company in Prague.
