Exactly one year ago, the Queen of Rock, Rita Lee, died. It was on May 8, 2023 that Brazil lost the greatest exponent of the genre. On his social network, her husband and musician, Roberto de Carvalho, remembered the singer and lamented how much he misses her.
“Bleed my heart and then, please, calm me down. Bring back my soul. Mitigate this desire to leave. So much love cannot end in pain. I will gather a lot of courage for the last trip to you. See you forever, my love” , he wrote in the caption of the image.
A recluse for the last few years, the singer had been diagnosed with lung cancer in 2021. After treatments, in April 2022, the disease would have gone into remission.
On the day of her death, she was at her home, in the capital of São Paulo, with her family. The wake was open to the public, at the Ibirapuera Park Planetarium.
Carvalho routinely pays tribute to Rita Lee. One of the most memorable was in August last year, when he published an unpublished video of her, in which she appeared playing with her grandson, Arthur, when he was still a baby.
Arthur, now six years old, is the son of Antonio Lee and writer and influencer Camila Fremder. In the video, Rita held her grandson on her lap, talked in a calm voice, laughed and kissed the little one’s cheek.
