Amid campaigns to help the population of Rio Grande do Sul, Whindersson Nunes and Felipe Neto, influencers involved in fundraising, exchanged barbs on social media this Friday (10). The two disagree with the federal government’s actions in dealing with the catastrophe and recalled other people’s past gaffes.
The accusations began last Thursday (9), when Whindersson mocked First Lady Janja’s celebration after the rescue of the horse Caramelo no X (formerly Twitter). The comedian also commented on a post by Pedro Roussef praising President Lula’s performance with the caption “Go get some ice, babysitter”.
Felipe Neto, in turn, praised the government’s actions in tackling the Rio Grande do Sul crisis and then made a tweet understood by internet users as an indirect hint at Whindersson. “Nothing against it, but every now and then, it’s good to slow down a little and open a damn book,” he wrote.
Whindersson responded to the hint by rescuing a controversial excerpt from the book written by Felipe Neto in 2017 in which he jokes ‘Casa, Mata ou Trepa’. “I’m going to read a children’s book,” he wrote in the caption.
The YouTuber defended himself, explaining that he was wrong to write this excerpt in his book and criticizing his colleague for bringing up past mistakes. “Rescuing mistakes from almost 10 years ago to attack reputation is exactly the Bolsonarist strategy. What you have become is worthy of shame. This ‘book’ was removed from stores months after being released and republished in 2017. Your silence and cowardice in 2018 and 2022 will remain forever”, he wrote.
Whindersson, countered Felipe Neto once again. “You talked about my past, I talked about yours, do you have a problem with me using drugs? Because I don’t use drugs anymore, I smoke marijuana, which you know isn’t true. My silence has been with you for a long time, I just see something yours when they bother you. Stay well and healthy,” he wrote.
