The British and authoritative Independent presents today, one day before the grand final of Eurovision tomorrow, in Malmö, Sweden, the list of its 10 favorite songs and favorite entries – among them “satanic” Ireland and “Zari” by Marina Satti. “From silly novelty songs to club-rock tracks and heartbreaking ballads, the competition in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest is fierce!” notes the author of the article.

“As suspense builds ahead of the final, we present our top 10 favorites to win the Eurovision Song Contest 2024, in no particular order”

Ireland: Bambie Thug – “Doomsday Blues”

Comment: Doomsday Blues’ has all the essential elements of a successful Eurovision entry: it’s bold, ambitious and features great direction, with Bambie appearing in a ravishing outfit while surrounded by a demonic-looking dancer.

Croatia: Baby Lasagna – “Rim Tim Tagi Dim”

The absolute favorite in all betting companies. Rock sound, ethnic look and stunning neon bucolic graphics.

Comment: Perfect fodder for Eurovision fans and great fun!

Switzerland: Nemo – “The Code”

The angelic-faced non-binary Nemo cleverly combines the Habanera aria from the opera Carmen with many of the classic James Bond themes in his “artful anthem”.

Comment: “Dramatic, with operatic trills and falsetto towards the climax but also rap. Nemo is definitely a worthy winner to beat.

Italy: Angelina Mango – “La noia”

The classical Italian melodic and allegra school, winner of Sanremo.

Comment: We’re sure he’ll do just fine. Her upbeat and carefree singing makes us long for hot summer days and heady nights thanks to her cool guitar and Mango’s catchy pop melodies.”

Luxembourg: Tali – “Fighter”

Comment: Tali’s French-speaking, Latin song is sure to wow Eurovision voters when she performs it in the grand final, with its sensual dance, instantly catchy chorus and song climax with flames on stage and some fantastic backing vocals. Merveilleuse!

Greece: Marina Satti – “ZARI”

Comment: “ZARI” makes the most of Marina’s enchanting voice, reminiscent of Spanish star Rosalia. It may sound strange to some listeners, but Satti and her team have really managed to create a very modern pop-jam that could easily find its way into our summer playlists.

Austria: Kaleen – “We Will Rave”

Comment: Eurovision is never short of a club track, and this year there are at least three such entries. One of our favorites is “We Will Rave”. With a catchy Beat and a breathtaking performance, Kaleen just needs to stay in the public’s mind long enough to vote for her, up against arguably more memorable acts from Croatia, Ireland and Switzerland.

Ukraine: Alyona Alyona and Jerry Heil – “Teresa & Maria”

Comment: Ukraine’s rousing anthem for 2024 “Teresa & Maria” written by composer Jerry Heil, combined with the voice of rapper and former teacher Alyona Alyona, with influences from hip-hop stars such as Eminem, Nicki Minaj, Missy Elliot and Azealia Banks.

Finland: Windows95Man – “No Rules!”

Comment: The “naked” Finn coming out of a denim egg – another favorite underdog with an explosive look but who can carry Finland high, as Lordi last did in 2004 in Athens with “Hard Rock Hallelujah”, one of the most memorable Eurovision performances.

Eurovision organizers will just have to hope he doesn’t fall during his very dangerous choreography.

Netherlands: Joost – “Europapa”

Comment: Joost rivals Windows95Man, at least in terms of quirky stage presence. The song – again in club sounds – do we understand it? No. But do we like it? Absolutely!.
