Celebrities mourn the death of Paulo César Pereio

Actor Paulo César Pereio died this Sunday (12) at the age of 83. He, who had lived at Retiro dos Artistas since 2020, was taken this morning to Casa São Bernardo Hospital, in the west zone of Rio de Janeiro, already in serious condition. Pereio was suffering from advanced liver disease and did not survive. On social media, several celebrities mourned the artist’s death.

Pereio was born in Alegrete, a small city in Rio Grande do Sul, in 1940, and throughout his career he became a kind of “terrible heartthrob” in Brazilian cinema. He acted in 60 films by directors such as Glauber Rocha, Hector Babenco, Arnaldo Jabor, Hugo Carvana and Ruy Guerra.

“We lost an icon of our cinema. Rest easy, my beloved Pereio. So many iconic and remarkable works on TV, theater and cinema. Paulo César Pereio was a resident at Retiro dos Artistas, he was very well looked after and loved. He will be missed already. Cissa Guimarães, the actor’s ex-wife, also paid tribute. “Peréio, great love of my life, I feel you and I have you among our “substitutes”, Thomaz and João, who you asked for so much from me! I thank you my love, for so much learning and love. I was a girl and you showed me the world and the love for our craft! We made children and history, my love, and now we have our beautiful grandchildren to continue our love, which will always be eternal!”
