The Tindersticks a few months before they were in Athens for the their fall concert on November 2, at the City Theater by Christmas Theater, are releasing a new song, a precursor to their new album.

Five years after “No Treasure but Hope” (2019) and three years after 2021’s ‘Distractions’, Tindersticks are back with a new album titled “Soft Tissue”which will be released by City Slang on September 13, 2024.

And now it comes “New World”the first piece written for “Soft Tissue”, the band’s fourteenth album. The song acts as a prelude as a kind of introduction to the themes and concerns raised by the album, focusing on the upheavals the band’s personal and public universes have undergone, the personal and public new worlds that have now been created.

The arrangements pick up where 2016’s ‘The Waiting Room’ left off as they take the album on new adventures, combining the band’s familiar stylistic vibe with Julian Siegel’s brass arrangements, Dan McKinna’s strings and the exciting vocals by Gina Foster.

Meanwhile, Staples’ inner musings lead to a chorus that highlights a more extroverted approach, which is evident in the song’s playful promo video: “I don’t I will let my love destroy me.” The video, as well as the album cover, was edited by Staples’ daughter, Sidonie Osborne Staples.
