One of the most unique cities of Thessaly is visited by “Neighborhoods in Piato» and o Dimitris Skarmoutsos the Saturday, May 18 at 16.45 to the Trikala. It is a large city that lives at a leisurely pace, with beautiful buildings, large squares, many neighborhoods and the river Litheos giving it a rare beauty.

The tour of its gastronomic destinations starts from the Manavika area. Here once was the old vegetable market of Trikala and it gradually transformed into a busy pedestrian street with many snack shops. “Old History” stands out among them. As its name shows, it is one of the oldest and most well-known, with excellent food and many stories to tell.

Neighborhoods

One of the reasons why Trikala is famous is the good meats, this is what we find at the “Hasapides” kebab shop. Well-grilled meats that deserve our attention. Pork, lamb and beef skewered in small pieces and excellent appetizers such as frygadelli.

Neighborhoods

The sweetest stop is at “Ena Kai Kati” or more simply at “Bulogiorgos” in the workshop where the famous Farsalon halva is made. Water, sugar, starch and butter are constantly mixed in copper cauldrons giving this magical effect.

The walk to Trikala ends with the “Philips gastrothiori”. This is a new arrival in the city of Trikala. A very neat all day bar that starts with a very strong breakfast and brunch and then offers fusion flavors until late at night.

Returning to the studio, Dimitris Skarmoutsos prepares two delicious recipes: chicken with chickpeas and spinach and sea bass with vegetables and herb sauce.

See you next week in another neighborhood!
