The iconic house of the “McAllister family” in the legendary film “Home Alone” went up for sale. It was built in 1921 in Winnetka, Illinois and the sale price is $5.25 million.

It is the first time it has been sold since 2012 when the current owners bought it for $1.58 million.

According to the Zillow website, the owners renovated and expanded the property in 2018 “paying the utmost attention to preserving the architectural details and integrity of the home’s most memorable and recognizable spaces”.

The mansion’s distinctive red brick front has been preserved as it was in the 1990 film starring Macaulay Culkin, Kathryn O’Hara, Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern.

The film’s director Chris Columbus previously said he chose the property because “if you’re a kid, it’s fun to be alone.”
