Famous names from the entertainment industry joined together in signing a letter asking the UK government to fund an independent institution to investigate possible abuses on film sets.
Cara Delevingne, Keira Knightley and Carey Mulligan are among the signatories to raise funds for the Independent Creative Industry Authority (CIISA). The body was created after the Me Too movement in the United Kingdom.
According to the American magazine Variety, the organization will collaborate with the police to report cases of inappropriate behavior. “[Vamos ser um] Central point of accountability for the creative industries and for reporting behavior of concern,” said director Jen Smith.
The British Film Academy, the London Theater Society and UK Theater and UK Music have already shown support for the body.
Zelda Perkin, former assistant to Harvey Weinstein, Rebecca Ferguson, Dominic Cooke, Emerald Fennell and
Jessica Knappett also signed the petition.
“Many of us in this industry would like to have an external body that we could turn to for advice, mediation and, in very extreme circumstances, an external body to hold people accountable for bad behavior, which sometimes happens in our sets, on our stages, behind the scenes”, says an excerpt from the letter.
