One of the main stars of “Game Of Thrones” (2011), Emilia Clarke feared being fired from the production at the height of the repercussions of the HBO series. Not that her interpretation of the character Daenerys Targaryen was less than expected by the directors, but for health reasons. The actress suffered a serious brain injury.
In 2019, the artist told The Big Issue in an interview that she suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage, caused by a ruptured aneurysm in February 2011. As a result, she underwent endovascular coiling surgery and was reportedly temporarily unable to say your own name. In 2013, she suffered another aneurysm that also required surgical intervention.
“The first fear we had was: ‘Oh my God, am I going to be fired? Am I going to be fired because they think I’m not capable of doing the job?'” she recalled. “When you suffer a brain injury, because it alters your sense of self on such a dramatic level, all the insecurities you feel walking into the workplace quadruple overnight.”
The actress underwent surgeries between seasons, which did not affect her work. Thanks to “Game of Thrones”, Clarke gained attention in the industry and was even nominated for an Emmy (2013, 2015 and 2016) for her role in the series. Outside of television, she also played great characters in cinema, being part of franchises such as “Star Wars” and “Terminator”.
