The couple made this decision for two reasons, to reduce their expenses as raising twins is not an easy task and for his wife to have help from her family. So she moved to the countryside near her parents with the children and he stays in Athens to work.
He spoke to Soz magazine about his decisions, the time he played in the TV series “Two Strangers” but also the difficulties he faced with his wife in having their children, the attempts of IVF and the taboos that must be overcome

-You are a singer in general who had a huge success in the ’90s. How do you feel about the children of your fans from back then listening to you today?

“I find this wonderful and it’s also a bet I made with myself. Because I had retired for several years from the immediate current affairs, it was a gamble for me if I would manage to move in a way generations who did not live me in my great glories that were the ’90s. Recently I also made an account on Tik tok and contact with people is more direct there. I thank the audience from the bottom of my heart for all these beautiful words that they write to me. I even posted a video and it immediately got 200,000 views. I didn’t expect it to have such a big response.”

-Did your participation in the series “Two Strangers” in 1999, which is shown in reruns even today, play a role in maintaining the love of the world?

“Of course! Television has gifted me and rewarded me. It works like the old actors we adore through the Greek movies that are played all the time. The same thing happened with ‘J2US’ which I participated in recently, which brought me back into the limelight and the love of the people was overwhelming. This shows that the world has not forgotten me and gives me the mood and appetite to be even more active. That’s why I’m releasing a new song now”!

-Is it true that the role in “Two Strangers” was written for another singer?

“My role in “Two Strangers” was for another singer, also quite famous at the time. In the end, he couldn’t go, so I went. I could not even imagine then what will follow next. It was a lottery for me. Many people asked me if I was paid from this participation. Of course I never got paid, but I got a lot more money afterwards because of the success the show had.

The series at that time had 70% viewership and automatically, whoever appeared in them, had huge recognition. Of course, all that happened then is due to a huge extent to the amazing production of this series as well as to the creators Alexandros Rigas and Dimitris Apostolou”.

– Although we live in 2024, there is unfortunately still a taboo for IVF. On the occasion of your own case, which had a positive outcome, would you like to pass on a message?

“I will do so with great pleasure. IVF should not be taboo. In the center that I went with my wife we saw a lot of people, which I did not expect and I did not see so many older couples but young people, which I did not believe. In fact, I asked “why are there so many young people here” and the answer I got was “For the same reason you are” and I was impressed.

It shouldn’t be taboo, just that each couple should find the right doctor and the right center because in a free market there are both the “seaweed for silk ribbons” and the overpriced ones. Our doctor told us that no one has a secret recipe or a secret “majouni” that only he and no one else has, while everyone follows a similar method, depending on the medical history of each participant.

In Greece, the average price is much lower than what you can find in America, for example. They are much more expensive there, the exact same things. Nothing else happens there. If here it costs, for example, 5 here, in America it may cost 10, while it is the same thing. People should not be afraid, and in order not to be afraid, they must be informed. He must be knocking on more than one door because each one presents his work as unique and we must ascertain whether or not he is telling the truth.

The message I want to convey is that the state must give substantial financial incentives to young people and to couples in general so that they start the process of starting a family. We’re going to have a huge underbirth problem in a few years.”

-Your twin boys were born about 1.5 years ago. How do you experience fatherhood? Is your daily life difficult being 2 and even at a young age?

“I won’t sugarcoat things. It is very difficult and the woman bears the biggest burden especially in the first years and the help that the man can provide is also very important, but babies in the first years of their life want their mom and dad 90% of the time he must be there for them in whatever they need and above all provide financially, but above all they need care and love. The more you can offer is good, but in the end the children can do with less, as long as they have care and love.”

-Were there times when you were financially strained in raising children?

“It’s really hard for a couple to raise children. Imagine that my wife has stopped working for three years to focus exclusively on raising the children. If I didn’t have my job as a singer, which fortunately I can do and make good money, we would have a huge financial problem. I have to support two houses, mine as well as the one where my wife lives with my mother-in-law”.

-Did you overcome the crisis that existed with your wife after the birth of the children?

“I have no problem with my wife that we live at a distance, it’s frivolous for them to jump to conclusions, who is a parent of twins understands what I’m saying. We are fine, it’s just that the “between us” has been lost and it’s perfectly logical since our priority is the upbringing of our children. We find windows every week to be together, in a little while we will go on vacation. My job doesn’t help much as I have to go to work when everyone else goes to bed. But when there is love between two people, everything is resolved.”
